Saturday outing

Our family are huge Lego fans, so when a friend gave us two free tickets to visit Legoland this Saturday we got very excited.

It's a good job we'd been given the two free tickets though, as I don't think we'd have been able to afford it otherwise.  Violet's ticket alone cost £39.00!!!

We queued, A LOT.

The best thing, by far, was the Atlantis Submarine Voyage.  We queued for 45 minutes to even get on it, but it was brilliant.  You climb aboard a little submarine and are taken on a voyage through a giant fish tank with Ray, Shark and other tropical fish.  Totally amazing.  I just wish it had lasted a little longer.

The model village is fantastic.  I could spend hours looking at it.

A very enjoyable trip, but it was a long, tiring day, and I was so glad to get back home and take my shoes off.

Hope you all had fun this weekend.

  1. It's a good few years since I visited Legoland, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I wonder if it's changed much since then. I remember staring at the model village for ages, so clever.

    1. It is a great place to visit, especially with younger children as it's totally magical for them. The model village is fab - I too could spend hours looking at it. I think I'd like to work as a designer for Lego. x

  2. I love those lego dinosaurs. A lady I met through teacher training was telling me about a weekend away at lego land she and her family had in the summer - it cost £500 for a shared room - her, husband and three children and they spent so much of each day queuing. It sounds like one of those places that's ok if you have free tickets or don't have to pay full price, but if you have to pay a lot it's a big disappointment. The models are amazing though, that last photo is impressive!

    1. I know that I for one could not afford to pay full price for LEGOLAND tickets. £500 seems astronomical. All the queuing can be a right royal pain in the bum, but there are things that you don't have to queue for, or only queue for a short time. The model is huge and I could spend hours just walking around being amazed by all the detail. I wish I'd taken more photos of all the models now, especially the dinos. x

  3. We were always big Lego fans too, it's a brilliant toy!! It is quite expensive to visit though isn't it but obviously a lot of fun. There's something quite fascinating about model villages. I love the zebra! :)

    1. Our house is full of the stuff. It seems that every time Violet's dad comes home from work there's either a new Lego mini figure or box of Lego. I think having Violet is just an excuse for him to revert back to childhood. Though the Lego of my childhood was never this impressive. What is it about model villages that are so fascinating I wonder - perhaps it's because it makes us all feel like giants! xx

  4. Oh no, just lost my comment - sorry if you get it twice!

We are always thinking about taking the boys as Charlie, especially, loves lego. I've noted the comment about Atlantis Submarine Voyage, great tip, but the queues put me off a bit, the boys are rubbish at long queues. Lovely photos :) Beth

    1. Hi Beth. The queues are definitely a pain, and as we all know, our children aren't the best at waiting. I can only suggest taking a PSP/DS/Kindle/Book for them to look at whilst they wait. That may help. If your boys are also into Star Wars, then they may like the new Star Wars Gallery, which was brilliant. No queues either. LEGOLAND have also introduced a Q-Bot. Basically you pay £15 to rent the device. You programme which ride you want to go on, and instead of having to queue, it gives you a time when you can go to front of the queue and just get on the ride. Apparently, you can do this for 20 rides. I'll stop now, as I sound like a Lego Representative!! xx

  5. We went to Legoland quite a few years ago and it was not so expensive as it seems to be now and we had a great day. They didn't have things like the dinosours or the zebra then - which are photographed really well by the way :) - but we did spend ages in the model village. Looks as though you had a great day though, I forsee lots of lego sculpting in your families future!!
