Red Silhouette Blouse

It's finished.

Sorry about that crappy self portrait photo. It's blummin hard to take decent photo of yourself isn't it?

I'm really loving this pattern, and would love to make some more, but I think I might brave a trip in to town and see what other patterns take my fancy. Are there any that you could recommend?

A touch of Red

My new fabric purchase has arrived.

It's Forever Vintage cotton lawn in Red Silhouette, which I purchased from Fabric Rehab for £14.40 for 2 metres.

This should keep me out of trouble, and my sewing machine busy today.

Party

The calm before the storm....

All is quiet before 10 little girls descend.

Lots of balloons - just how I like it.

Concentrating.

Bracelets made, it's now time for the cake.

Before you ask.  No, I didn't.

Check out the blouse I'm wearing.

One, two, three................

The highlight of the party, for the girls, and the jewellery maker, was the appearance of Foxy at the patio door.

Jewellery party = The quietest party I've ever attended.  Highly recommended.

Plumberry Blouse

Yesterday, I mentioned that I'd made myself a new blouse, and I thought I'd show it to you today.

I made a size 10, in design B, from New Look pattern 6187.

Modifications: Before sewing up the hem, I tried it on and found it to be a little snug(!) around the derrière. So I unpicked 4" from the bottom of each side seam and made slits up each side, making it a much better fit.
I'm already contemplating making another one, and have just ordered some cotton lawn in red, which I think will go great.

Details:
Pattern - New Look (#6187)
Fabric - Plumberry from the Charleston Farmhouse collection, designed by Felicity Miller for Freespirit.

Would you believe........

......that this little lady is 6 today?????

She's requested a chocolate cake, which is baking away nicely in the oven as I type.

In other news:-
I've made myself a new top/blouse. - photos to follow later this week.

Also, friends and family have finally persuaded me to start up a little business selling the things I make.  It's a little daunting because the items they think I should make (little baby and children's quilts), will need to be safety tested, and carry a CE marking, in order to meet EU legislation.  I've contacted a few fabric manufacturers, and a couple have already responded and included documents of their fabric testing, which is brilliant news. Hopefully, the other manufacturers will be in contact in due course.  I'll then be in a position to speak to Trading Standards and see where I stand in relation to starting up my little business.

Hope you'll all keep your fingers firmly crossed for me.

If any of you have any advice for me, please get in touch.

Miss Daisy

Our family welcomed a new member yesterday.  My cousin gave birth to her first child in the early hours of yesterday morning.  A little girl. She was over a week early and her parent's are still deciding on a name for this precious bundle of joy.

Luckily, I've finished the Pop Blanket.

For some reason, this blanket didn't photograph very well at all.  It looks much, much better in real life.

I used Aran weight acrylic for the borders, and Malabrigo Worsted weight yarn in Plena, Nostalgia and Little Lovely for the spots.

I hardly used up any of Malabrigo yarn, so thought I'd try and use up the remainder of the Little Lovely by finding a baby pattern on Ravelry.  It never disapoints does it? You always seem to find just the right pattern, in just the right yarn weight.  Love, love, love Ravelry (nearly as much as I love trawling through Pinterest)!

The pattern I decided on was called Miss Daisy, designed by Lisa Chemery.

It's a beautiful pattern, and knits up so quickly.  This took me 3 evenings.

I'm not a fan of variegated coloured yarn when knitting garments, but seeing as I had nearly a full skein of the Malabrigo, I couldn't let it go to waste.  It's turned out rather well I think.

Right, I'm off to the post office to mail all my handmade items off to the new mother & baby.  I hope they like what's inside.

15 years

People tell you that time is a healer.

Today, 15 years later, I miss her more than ever.
