Our family welcomed a new member yesterday. My cousin gave birth to her first child in the early hours of yesterday morning. A little girl. She was over a week early and her parent's are still deciding on a name for this precious bundle of joy.
Luckily, I've finished the Pop Blanket.
For some reason, this blanket didn't photograph very well at all. It looks much, much better in real life.
I used Aran weight acrylic for the borders, and Malabrigo Worsted weight yarn in Plena, Nostalgia and Little Lovely for the spots.
I hardly used up any of Malabrigo yarn, so thought I'd try and use up the remainder of the Little Lovely by finding a baby pattern on Ravelry. It never disapoints does it? You always seem to find just the right pattern, in just the right yarn weight. Love, love, love Ravelry (nearly as much as I love trawling through Pinterest)!
The pattern I decided on was called Miss Daisy, designed by Lisa Chemery.
It's a beautiful pattern, and knits up so quickly. This took me 3 evenings.
I'm not a fan of variegated coloured yarn when knitting garments, but seeing as I had nearly a full skein of the Malabrigo, I couldn't let it go to waste. It's turned out rather well I think.
Right, I'm off to the post office to mail all my handmade items off to the new mother & baby. I hope they like what's inside.

ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have original garment to dress and wrap you baby in. I'm sure they'll be well received. New babies are always something to celebrate x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Everything you made is beautiful and I know they will treasure these lovely, thoughtful gifts.
ReplyDeleteoh what gorgeous gifts x
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt they loved the parcel - what's not to like? Some of my favourite things when the boys were born were the hand knitted bits that came from Germany :)
