Easter Egg felting

A very dear friend of mine phoned me the other day to say that she'd been to a crafting event where she made some felted Easter eggs.  "You'd be good at that", "it's easy", she said.

I've never tried this before, but it sounded intriguing.  So I asked my friend what materials were required and popped online to order a few basics.

The above is called 'Phantasmagorical'

The above is a pack of 4 called 'Spring Blossom'

I set to work, minding my fingers (because those needles are blummin sharp).

This photo looks like I'm crafting an Olive!

The first egg took me, a complete and utter novice, about 40 minutes.

I used the Phantasmagorical for my second egg, which took about half an hour.

Betwixt my chores today, I'll be felting away some more.  Some will look lovely on the Easter Bonnet I've yet to make for Violet, and I think a variety of them will look lovely nestled in a pretty bowl.

If you haven't tried felting, I can highly recommend it. You won't even need to splash out a lot of cash to get you started either.

I purchased my wool roving and needles from www.gilliangladrag.co.uk.

100g Phantasmagorical £4.80
100g Spring Blossom pack £4.25
10 needles £3.50

The polystyrene Eggs were from The Works (pack of 12, medium sized, 99p) (pack of 24 small, 99p ).  They also do three packs for the price of two, which makes them ideal to do some Easter crafting with.

  1. Goodness Jill, I'm very tempted to give this a go, those eggs look absolutely amazing.
A bowlful would make a gorgeous Easter decoration!

  2. Oh wow that's awesome! I really want to give needle felting a go but it's always looked so scary - this demystifies things a little bit.

One to add to the potential project pile!

  3. They look gorgeous - but not as gorgeous as your beautiful 5 year old on the previous post. Belated happy birthday to her - she's growing up to be a stunning little lady xxxxxxx
