Truly Scrumptious

What do you do when you've got a head cold and can't sleep at night?

Why, knit of course.

My complexion may be grey this morning, and I may have two black eyes, but hey, I've got myself a lovely new shawl.

I'm not known for wearing shawls, but when I saw this design by Veera Välimäki I couldn't resist giving it a go.

This shawl was 3 months in its preparation.  I wanted to knit it using Fyberspates Scrumptious 4ply yarn, but it was £14 a skein.  Far too expensive to purchase 3 skeins all in one go.  So at the very beginning of each month I would pop into town and purchase myself a new colour.

There wasn't a huge variety of colours to choose from, but each one is, as the name suggests, scrumptious. My final colour choices were Slate, Water & Gold.

The pattern is called Color Affection., and was really easy to follow.  If shawls are your thing, then I can highly recommend this pattern.  Even a competent beginner could attempt this.  You do need to know how to make stitches and to wrap & turn, but the whole shawl is knit in Garter Stitch - what could be easier.

Maybe shawls will become my new 'can't leave home without' accessory.

Though I don't think Pusskins could care less how pretty it is.

Wishing you all a lovely Tuesday.

  1. That truly is scrumptious, I love it. The colours work so well together. I'm not a shawl wearer, but I wonder if my mum would fancy something to drape around her shoulders when she's chilly, I think I could be persuaded to give it a go. Hope you're feeling better soon, I was awake most of the night too.

  4. It's lovely! I'm not really a shawl person either (although I do have a scarf wrapped permanently around my neck) but I love the colours and simple design, it works so well. Hope you are feeling better soon. Bethx (thelinencat)
