Violet and I have spent a very pleasant hour this afternoon making and decorating.
Unfortunately, there were casualties.
These were the only survivors.
As I'm sure you'll agree, a very weird looking Gingerbread family.
Not only did the Jelly Tot buttons keep disappearing into some little person's mouth (mentioning no names), but I also caught her doing this...
Sucking the chocolate sauce out of the tubes. What a greedy guts!
The kitchen looks like a bomb's hit it, I've decided that my Gingerbread man cutter is complete and utter pants and the recipe I used could do with tweaking, but all in all, a very enjoyable time was had, which is all that really matters.
If any of you have a scrummy Gingerbread recipe, please let me know as I won't be using mine again.

Here's wishing you all a very lovely weekend. I'm off to admire my new key fob that arrived from Finland earlier today.
I saw this whilst I was looking through Mia's Etsy shop. Mia is a very talented lady, who creates beautiful things. She has a lovely blog too.
Thank you Mia - I love my little Moomin, I'm sure he'll keep my front door key safe.

I can't believe how grown up Violet looks, she's such a cutie. Had to laugh at her squeezing the chocolate sauce in to her mouth. Why bother decorating with it when it can be eaten this way? I personally think she's got the right idea. I love your key fob, I use a Mickey Mouse keyring that a friend brought back from Disney World for me about thirty years ago. Re the comment you left on my post, I've never read any of the James Herriot books, I'll have to look out for them.
ReplyDeleteLooked like fun anyhow .... I've got a 23 year old who still sucks icing out of the tubes! Cutters can be a nightmare ... I have a lovely reindeer one for Christmas time but as soon as they are baked the flipping legs and antlers fall off!
ReplyDeleteI thought that was the role of the small cute helper - to eat all the mixture and decorations. Thats certainly what my 2 used to and still do!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Joe. You have one very grown up looking girl there. The eating of any icing is part of the process. In the name of testing! I still use the Good Housekeeping Recipe for all gingerbread people. Old but very good xx
ReplyDeleteViolet, dont tell mummy, but I would have done the same with the jelly tots and chocolate icing! xxxx
ReplyDeleteWell you know how it is there are always casualties when making gingerbread men! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think the gingerbread family look great!
The important thing is did everyone have fun and I think by looking at the photos the answer to that is yes!!
Love your little key fob, I'm waiting for a bunny one to arirve from Mia too. :)
Enjoy your weekend,
Vivienne x
Yay for Moomins! I love your gingerbread family, so cute! I'm definitely with Violet on the joys of eating all the jelly tots before they make it onto the gingerbread men :) x
ReplyDeleteOh this did make me laugh and you are brave, I slightly dread baking with my boys as they really do trash the kitchen. At V's age, I'd have sucked the chocolate out of the tube as well :)
ReplyDeletehee hee naughty chipmunk! Those gingerbread men actually look pretty good! I want one! xxx
ReplyDeleteBaking with small children - I remember those days. What a mess! I only do gingerbread at Christmas these days but my recipe is a good one - I'll dig it out sometime for you.
ReplyDeleteLove making gingerbread people!! Ah well you had a good day's entertainment anyway and hope they tasted OK :) x
ReplyDeleteI love the strange :) yet so cute gingerbread family! And it seems that the talented-maker also enjoyed the process, is there anything cuter than that chocolate-taster picture?
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you liked the keyring!
Happy weekend soon!
Yours,
Mia
