Antler Mittens

A very happy Monday to you all.  Hope you all enjoyed a lovely weekend.

I've spent the past two or three evenings knitting myself a wonderfully cosy pair of mittens.

The pattern is called Antler Mittens, designed by Alexa Ludeman. You can find the pattern here.

I used a yarn I've never knit with before called Radiance Aran, hand-dyed by Babylonglegs.  The colourway is Fan Girl.  Isn't it pretty?

The 'antler' design is a little hard to distinguish in my photos, but you might just be able to make it out.

These mittens definitely get a thumbs up from me.

The Babylonglegs yarn is really soft, the pattern was very easy to follow, and because they're knit using a chunky weight yarn, they're super quick to make.

I also love the fact that the cuff is designed to cover part of your forearm, and doesn't just end at the wrist.

I absolutely love them.

    1. They're really lovely mittens, if I do say so myself. Unfortunately, my photos don't do them justice.
Can't believe you've had your first real frost - it's still very wet and very windy here. Blummin weather.

  2. They're gorgeous and I like the yarn you chose. Finished just in time for the cold weather, we had our first frost of the year last night.

    1. Thanks Jo. The yarn is scrummy - I bought two skeins for £18, which I didn't think was too bad. I've got just over a skein left, which is plenty to knit another pair of mittens, or a hat to match (not that I wear hats).
You've had your first frost too (just like Green Rabbit above) - time to get the Hot Water Bottles out me thinks - brrrrr!!!!

  3. Your mittens are lovely Jill, and I can see the pattern, it is great, very unusual, and the colours of the yarn are so pretty for the winter, not at all dull! xx

  4. Love these mittens and never have enough gloves for the cold weather. Thanks for sharing - love the colour/wool you've chosen and you've inspired me by making them quickly! Off to see if I can squeeze in the time to make some for myself!

    1. Hello Caro. Nice of you to drop in and leave me a comment. You can easily knit one mitten in an evening, whilst watching a movie. Because of the Aran yarn they knit up so quickly. Give them a go, you want be disappointed. Here's a link to Babylonglegs: http://babylonglegs.bigcartel.com/category/aran
