A very good morning to you all. I trust you all had a lovely weekend.
For the past couple of evenings I've been knitting Violet the wristwarmers that she wanted.
And, here is little miss grumpy-pants modelling them.
Go on, give us a smile.
For those who like details:
Yarn: Rowan Baby Merino Silk DK.
Colourway: Limone (shade 675).
Using 3.25 DPNs, I cast on 36 stitches, using the Cable Method.
Rib (K1,P1) in the round for 12 rows.
Rib (K1,P1) for 12 rows - knit flat to create the opening for thumb.
Rib (K1,P1) in the round for 15 rows.
Knit, in the round, for 40 rows.
Cast off loosely.
And, what does the little lady think? She absolutely loves them. Thank goodness.
These were such a quick knit. Very easily completed over a couple of evenings, and I only used about half a skein for the pair.
Violet starts school (Reception) tomorrow, so I'll be spending today checking, and double checking (maybe even triple checking - because I may ever so slightly have OCD) that she's got everything that she needs, and that it all has her name on.
Yesterday, I made her a beautiful pumpbag, but I'll tell you all about that tomorrow.

Violet wristwarmers look lovely and I think that eventually she thought so too!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope she has a fantastic first day at school tomorrow, she'll have a ball so don't worry Mum!!!!!!

Thanks Vivienne. I'm sure she'll be just fine. It'll definitely me who'll be the teary-eyed one. x
DeleteOooh, exciting, first day of school. You'll be on tenterhooks all day until you collect her. Our's went back today but Daniel only had to go in for an interview with his teacher so wasn't gone long. Violet's wristwarmers are lovely, they'll keep her warm on her walk to school during autumn.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment re: wristwarmers. If I enjoyed knitting with DPNs then I might have considered making more to sell, but it's not my favourite way of knitting. Luckily Violet will only be going in for a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon, then on Thursday she'll be staying for lunch and the afternoon. Her first full day will be on Friday - I've already planned to go into town and meet a friend for lunch. Hopefully, that will take my mind off Violet for a few hours. x
ReplyDeleteThey look smashing and she models them so well! She's a proper cutie pie. Don't wotty about her starting school. She'll love it and you will enjoy the freedom! xxxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. I know she'll be fine and I'm sure she'll make some new friends easy enough. I'm really gonna miss her though. x
DeleteV's wristwarmers are great - love the first 'grumpy' photo - so cute! I hope she has a great first day, for both of you, mine are now going into yr 1 and yr 3 and I'm still anxious (they start on Thursday) but I know once I've dropped them off all excited about seeing their friends and come home I will feel calm and ready for some 'me' time and they'll be happy to be back. Beth/thelinencat xx
ReplyDeleteI loved the 'grumpy' photo - think she was trying to keeep herself from smiling. Thanks for your good wishes re: Violet starting school. All the best for your boys going back tomorrow. I hope their first day back goes well. Violet's only there for a couple of hours this afternoon, so I won't have too long without her. She'll be doing her first full day on Friday - I've already made plans to go into town and meet friends for coffee. Next week will be my big challenge - all those hours to fill! x
