Apologies for my absence over the past week. I've been extremely busy helping out at Violet's school, including assisting in the organisation and running of the school Christmas Fair. It was a lot of hard work, but a huge success. Though I have to say that I was glad to climb into my bed on Friday night. Phew!!!!
Saturday saw us travelling over to my birth town of Nottingham to see this years Panto at The Playhouse.
I love a good panto.
If you don't know Nottingham at all, the above photo is of the Council House in slab square. Doesn't it look great? Very Christmassey.
I'm totally in Christmas mode now.
Ding dong! Look what the postie's just delivered. It's my latest order of beautiful Madelinetosh tosh merino dk, in the gorgeous colour called Celadon. Aint it pretty?
It's destined to become a new slouchy hat for my Sister in Law - watch this space.
Right then, I'm off to write some Christmas cards and wrap some presents.
Fa la la la la, la la la la................

I was on the PTA when my two were in primary school and the busiest time of the year was the run up to the Christmas Fair, it was so hectic, so much to be done. All good fun though. It's a few years since I've been to a pantomime, I hope you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThe Panto was great - no matter how corny the jokes are, or if things go wrong, it's always great family fun. You can't help but laugh, when all the little children around you are belly laughing at a custard pie in the face.
DeleteI love helping out with the PTA, it's just a shame most parents don't want to get involved, as it would really take some pressure off the handful of current members, but I know that joining the PTA isn't for everyone.
Schools are mad busy at Christmas, I remember it well from when my two were small.
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous skein of yarn. :)

It's definitely tiring, but it's totally worth all the effort when you see the joy on all little children's faces. Plus, it's nice to raise some extra funds for the school - I think we made £1200 this year, which I'm thrilled about.
DeleteThe yarn is gorgeous, and I can't wait to start knitting with it. I'm just waiting on some needles to be delivered. You'd think after all these years of knitting, that I'd have every single size known to man, but apparently not!!! he he. xx
I hope that you are having fun with all of your helping endeavours. I am sure that they are much appreciated! Looking forward to seeing the hat in this gorgeous yarn! xx
ReplyDeleteI love helping out at school Amy, and not just with the PTA. I also volunteer my help in the classroom, and listen to some year 2 children read. It's so rewarding.

I'm feeling like I've been hit by a truck these past two weeks, and I still have this week and next to go! I love helping out but this time of year is so tiring. Anyway, the panto sounds interesting, I love hearing about this tradition because it doesn't really happen here. The yarn is such a pretty color, I am sure it will be a beautiful hat.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been busy too Jennifer. It's a great time of year to get involved with things that are happening at school isn't it?
DeleteI'm hoping that I've chosen the right hat pattern. It's called Lovejoy Slouch, and it's by Thao Nguyen. I bought if from Ravelry. If you've got a Ravelry account, go and check it out. The thing is, it's got a bit of a lace pattern, and I'm not really very good when it comes to lace knitting.
this year I've knitted zero presents. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like to get a few presents knit as Xmas presents,I love giving people handmade gifts.
