250 is a good enough reason

I've just realised that I've posted 250 posts on this here little blog of mine - yay!

Surely, that is a good enough reason for me to hold a giveaway.

Seeing as my blog is entitled I Should Have Listened to my Mother, why not leave a comment on today's post, telling me what was the best piece of advice your mother gave you. If not that, then how about a favourite recipe she passed down to you, or maybe just a treasured/funny memory (if you want to share it, that is).

Closing date will be next Friday, which should give me plenty of time to sort out a prize.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

  1. I have quite a few of my mothers recipes written down, all traditional stuff, sponge, Victoria sponge, chocolate cake! Sunday afternoon tea in our house was a treat.

  2. Congratulations on 250 posts, quite an achievement. I've just seen your last post too, Violet is so cute, and what a fabulous idea for thank you cards. Not really advice, but my mum instilled in me that it isn't posessions which are important but those you love. I remember forcing her engagement ring on my finger, it was so tight that my finger swelled up and it wouldn't come off. I ended up with a trip to the fire station to have it cut off, resulting in all the diamonds dropping out of it, and the ring itself in three pieces. I was devastated. All my mum had to say about the matter was, "As long as your finger's alright".

  3. As I've been out in the garden today a piece of gardening advice springs to mind, my Mama taught me to weed in circles away from the plants to best keep on top if weeding when you don't have much time or in her case have a lot of garden to keep up with! Well done for 250 posts :)

  4. Congratulations on your 250th post.

My mum had loads of sayings but the one that comes to mind frequently is 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions'. She knew me so well - I think I am half way there.:-)

  5. congrats on your 1/4 century of posts! I think mostly my mum instilled little rituals in me that I don't realise I'm doing, like always making tea in a pot, never ever ever in a mug, and always warm the pot first since that is how she taught me when I was about 8 years old!

  6. Congratulations!
My mum had a saying for every occasion but one I've always tried to live by is 'If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all'
