40

Thank you for all my wonderful birthday wishes.

I had such a lovely day.  Even the weather was kind to me.

We had a trip to Twycross Zoo.

I was sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers - all pink peonies and roses.

My brother & Sister in Law bought me an all singing, all dancing, Singer sewing machine, which I absolutely love, can't wait to start using it.

Violet and her daddy are taking me away on holiday - probably somewhere in Wales.  We've only ever visited Powys Castle, so I'm really looking forward to exploring a little more.  Can any of you recommend anywhere?

Waving goodbye.......

............to my 30's

What a decade it's been.

A divorce.

4 house moves.

Inter-railing around Germany, Switzerland, Austria.

Fabulous holidays in Italy and Cornwall.

My brother got married.

And, the birth of the most important person in my life, Violet.

I wonder what the next decade has in store.

Look at granny, knitting in the corner......

Whilst Violet attends nursery (and if I'm not helping out in the classroom or with swimming lessons), I pop off to the local coffee shop,  grab myself a nice seat by the window or a quiet corner, and pick up my needles.

I've been clicking away at quite a few projects of late, but had to put them to one side when a friend announced that she was expecting.

Out came my 'go to' blanket pattern again - Honeycomb Waves by Tahira Probst.

And before I knew it, I'd knit a bright, cheery, and warm pram blanket.

I love the colours.
(Sirdar Click Chunky with wool in Blazer and Plum)

Next, I wanted to knit something for baby to snuggle up to at home.

I haven't a clue whether it'll be a boy or a girl, so opted for a cream and pale yellow combo.

My initial thoughts were to knit it entirely in stripes, but now I'm not so sure..........

......perhaps half stripes, half plain cream would look nice.

When it's finished, and if I still have enough time, I'm going to attempt this pattern called Potter by Lisa Richardson, which I found over on the Rowan website.

I love knitting for babies.

If you're wondering why I named this post "Look at granny, knitting in the corner".  This is what one of the school mums said to me when she saw me knitting one morning.

To me knitting seems a perfectly reasonable thing to do in a coffee shop.  Though being the only one doing it; perhaps I did look a little strange.

Changes, changes, changes......

Well here I am (or should that be, here we are, seeing as Violet is a very big part of this blog too).

Starting to blog again is harder than I thought - so many things seem to have changed. For the better, I'm sure.  Though it'll take me a little while to get used to it.

Blogger has been 'played around' with whilst I've been absent, I'm struggling to navigate and use my own blog!

I previously used Picnik to edit my photos, but that doesn't even exist anymore. Is PicMonkey what the kids are using these days??

Changes, changes, changes.....

Please bear with me whilst I get my blogging groove back on.

How grown up did Violet look in my last photo???

Here she is on her first day at school......

No nerves (from Violet. There were plenty of butterflies flying around in my tummy).

I can't believe that I was snapping these pictures last September.

Where has her first school year gone?

Making a come back.

I'm thinking about starting blogging again.

Violet's already in celebratory spirits!
