Everything's new

New month.

New computer.

New house.

Yippee!!!!!!!!

Violet and I are so very glad to be back in blogland again. 

We never expected to be away for so long.

We've had house buying nightmares.

We've had computer breakdowns.

We've had illness.

But, (touch wood) everything is now back to normal again.

We moved house over the course of last weekend, and even though we're still surrounded by boxes of all of our possessions, we are extremely happy.  My laptop has now been fixed and now that I have internet connection once more (as of this morning), I thought I'd briefly hop into this virtual world and let all you fabulous folk know, that we are all well, happy and enjoying our new surroundings. 

I'll be back next week with photos of our 'new pad'.  So please pop back for 'the tour', but for now you'll just have to be content with a photo of our front door and the above photo of Violet, which was taken this morning, when she decided that the correct clothing for this beautiful weather was her pajama top, a pair of pink pants, a woolly hat and wellies!!!!!!

Not a holiday we want to repeat

Hello everyone.

As you can see, we're back from Cornwall.

The weather was the best that we've ever had.  It's just a pity that we didn't get chance to enjoy any of the beautiful sunshine.  The reason being, Violet's virus got worse, resulting in her being taken into hospital. 

Her virus had mutated into a terrible chest infection, causing fluid in her lungs. A xray showed spotting, but not a mass.  So after various tests, and a little bit of worrying on my part, we were sent back to our holiday cottage laden with antibiotics, to await her recovery.

My poor little girl has lost so much weight and has huge dark circles under her eyes.  She's lost her Va Va Voom.  It's heartbreaking to see.

Would you believe that it was her 3rd birthday last Friday.  Needless to say, it wasn't a very happy day for any of us.

Whilst she's still convalescing it'll remain quiet over here for a little while longer.

Hope you'll bare with me.

There'll be a short break in transmission folks

Apologies for not posting much this week, but Violet's got a virus and she'd rather have me snuggling with her on the sofa , than have me tap, tap, tapping away on my laptop.

We're supposed to be off down to Cornwall tomorrow for a week.  Let's hope she picks up alittle bit before we get there.

I'll pop in and see you all when I get back - I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Sometimes it can be hard to put into words how you feel about blogging, why we do it etc. I came upon blogging completely by chance, when I was searching for some craft advice on Google and landed in someone's blog. 

I was fascinated by it and started to read more and more.  I couldn't believe that blogging had been going on for years, and there I was never even having heard of it. 

I like visiting all kinds of blogs, but the ones I seem to love the most are those that talk to me like I am a friend who has just popped in for coffee (and cake).  The ones who chat about a variety of subjects, whether it be the book they've just read, a recipe they've just tried for the first time, or something crafty they've put their heart and soul into and are as proud as punch about. 

To me, it's like living on a virtual street, which is full of helpful and friendly neighbours, who are always welcoming, encouraging and caring.

How to age 20 years in only 5 seconds.

Impossible, yes?

NO!  I can speak from experience.

This very thing happened to me as I watched Violet lose her footing at the top of a flight of stairs, then watch helplessly at the top as she tumbled down the whole lot until she finally reached the bottom.

I can't tell you whether it happened in slow motion, or whether it was all over as quick as a flash.

Luckily all she sustained were a few bruises on her legs and a bump on the head.

I on the other hand had chest pains for the rest of the day, and could hardly carry her back to the car because my legs were shaking so bad.

She doesn't seem any the worse for wear, but I'm sure I've gained a million and one new grey hairs, and I'm not sure my heart could take any more excitement for some time.

This episode was the start of a strange old week here.

The 'stunt toddler' incident started the week off.  Then on Monday Violet drew her first 'proper' picture.  I say proper because usually she just scribbles, but this time she actually drew a dinosaur.

Being the bad mother that I am, I thought it was a fish, but then Violet told me that it was an actual Dinosaur, with a tail, spines and even an eye.  Though I think she borrowed the spines idea from The Gruffalo, as it's one of her favourite stories at present.

Then on Tuesday I spent the day chasing after Violet's imaginary white Hampster, called Rhino.  He was a very naughty little chap because everytime I caught him, Violet told me he'd gotten away again - pesky hampsters!

On Wednesday morning I was in the shower, when Violet pops up on the other side of the shower curtain looking very pleased with herself.  I burst out laughing - she was wearing just her pull-up nappy and my bra.  The little tike had even managed to fastened it.  When I got out of the shower, she was stood in front of the mirror killing herself laughing at her reflection.

Then yesterday she kept the very nice RAC man entertained when he came to start our car.  I didn't know she knew so much about spanners and tyres.  Not that either of these things had anything to do with starting it.  At least she was making us both laugh whilst we all froze to death - it was bitterly cold here yesterday.

I'm just wondering what today will bring.

Must do better

I did absolutely pants with my Scavenger Hunt project. 

All I managed was 2 photographs of bridges.

I know - pathetic.

They are nice bridges though.

I feel like a naughty school girl who hasn't done her homework - boy, I know that feeling rather well.

I was hoping to pick a winner for my giveaway today, but I seem to be having trouble with working out how many people have actually entered.  On the actually blog post itself, it says there are 14 comments. When I go into my comments page, I count 15.  However, when I go into my blog postings page, it's telling me that there are 23 comments.  So, it appears that I'm missing 8 comments.
